Report from Ed:

Well that was unusual!
To start at the beginning, I was up at 5am, checking the forecasts, and it screamed to me to get as far east as practical, so I called a Hythe session and set off to meet Will and SteveE.
We arrived at 7 to find munching shorebreak and 5m ish weather. The plan was to use the strong ssw before it had time to drop, so we burnt round to St Mary's and rigged in a flash.
I stuck my 5.8 on my 92l board and rushed to the waters edge...where it was honking. Totally maxed 10 mins, was followed by well powered 10 mins with some cross off dtl! 4 turns on one wave!
Will and Steve got down to the water and I said to Will, "watch this" and did a loop off the first ramp, no problem! (still a way from sailing away yet).
Then God saw Will had hit the water and turned the wind down to simmer.
What followed was a frustrating hour of cross off, gusty, rippy, hell. So we went to get my longboard for a blast which was great.
Wind picked up a bit so did another forward, and then called it a day as was so knackered from walking upwind against the rip.

Now comes the fun part...

A rather distraught Will informs me he's lost the van key.
Steve informs Will that his van has got a parking ticket.
Will tells Steve he's lost the van key.
We both inform Will he's a twat.

So now we've got two guys in wetsuits who can't get at their clothes and a lot of gear on the grass.

OK so I'll run Will home, get his spare key, and return to frozen Steve.

Will informs us his house key is in the van.

Raised eyebrows alround....

So to cut a long story short:
The RAC man got into Will's van.
I drove Steve and Will back to Will's house.
I'm now home,
Will and Steve should be back at the car in steve's van,
And all for 20 mins sailing.

Bad Will.

Report from me:

Rubbish sail on my board with 5.7 - underpowered. Had some fun on the Longboard though. key incident best forgotten....
